I am very pleased to inform you that we have received 3000 hygiene kits from Days for Girls Adelaide South Australia.
These kits will be distributed to women and girls living in IDP camps, women in prisons and other vulnerable women and girls in the territories of Uvira, Fizi, Mwenga, Shabunda and Walungu.
Most of the population in DRC live on less than 1 dollar a day, those who suffer the most are women and children as they do not have financial resources. Many who live in rural areas (Villages) are not able to find even 1 dollar to buy underwear and sanitary kit, which makes them use dirty cloths during their menstrual period, leading to them being infected.
The Hygiene Kit distribution programme will help these women and girls to prevent and control infections and other diseases, enabling them to live a happy life free from infections and disease.
We are very grateful to Susanne Harris, President of Days for Girls Adelaide South Australia who supported us with 3000 kits worth over $45,000. It is worth noting that this is the first time that MHCD has received more than 3000 kits at one time, and we are pleased to inform you that we will be transporting these kits to the DRC in the container of solar equipment that will be leaving for the DRC in a few weeks.
